Peshastin is a small orchard town in the Wenatchee valley where US 2 crosses the river on the Peshastin bridge, surrounded by pear and apple country that made this valley famous. It is a working farm town more than a tourist stop, with fruit stands in season and the valley's packing sheds nearby, and it marks the point where the Stevens Pass drive fully becomes an east side valley drive, dry, open, and a world away from the summit weather.
The Peshastin interchange joins US 2 with the valley road to Leavenworth, so local and through traffic braid here. Fog on the river bottom is the main hazard, thick on autumn and winter mornings when the high ground is perfectly clear. Drivers coming off the pass sometimes relax too early at Peshastin; the valley has its own winter, with freezing fog and frost heaves, and the last twenty miles to Wenatchee deserve the same attention as the mountain miles.
The full Stevens Pass conditions page carries the summit story: avalanche zones, the two climbs, and the storm playbook.
Every camera on the highway is on the US 2 cameras page, in milepost order from Everett to Wenatchee.
